This is me on August 31st, 2012, saying goodbye after close to 17 years doing corporate travel for the same company. (20 years in the travel business.)
Loved the flowers, will miss the girls and travelers, and the cake was Yummy! |
And this is me September 4th, 2012, my first day as a FULL-TIME WRITER!!!
I cleaned my desk just for the occasion. Usually it's buried. |
The title and what I wrote above is a tad misleading because I've been writing for over 10 years now, and for at least the last 5 years I've put in full time hours+ on my writing in addition to working the part-time day job, but there's something to be said for knowing that it's OFFICIAL and I won't be driving in to the other job anymore.
It's all on me now...
Yikes! I better get to work!
I hope you all have a great week ~ I plan to. It also helps that the kids are back to school!!! *grin*

Congratulations! Writing's not for the faint of heart!
ReplyDeleteGood luck and congratulations!
ReplyDeleteJordanne
Congratulations. I also quit my job recently as a legal assistant to work as a full-time writer.
ReplyDeleteNow we have to get busy, busy!!
-Cheryl
Here's to full time in your PJs! Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteWendi Darlin
Diana--so true!
ReplyDeleteJordanne--thanks!
Cheryl--yay you, too! Now get back to writing. :)
Wendi--yes, pj's tomorrow--and no make-up. Oops, nope, I've got a WisRWA writer's meeting. Thursday will be the day!
Congratulations Stacey! This is so exciting. What a wonderful career move. Happy writing!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Now stop reading your comments and add triple digits to your word count.
ReplyDeleteThanks Beth!
ReplyDeleteDale...thanks and ouch. That hand slap stung a bit, but you're so right.
If I don't respond to anyone for awhile, blame Dale and be glad I'm doing what I'm paying myself for.
Stacy, I just did the same thing. I retired Aug 17th from the school district to full time writer. Writers on the move. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteYou look so happy at your "new" job. Wishing you word count-filled days, plot dream nights, and mega-success.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Stacey! Best of luck with your new job.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Stacy - well deserved, and an inspiration to all writers.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Congrats Stacey! Enjoy your new life :) xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Stacey! Can't wait to see what you do now that you're full-time! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Stacey!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say this now, and you're gonna think, "That's not a problem," but trust me, on those heavy word count days, when you look at the clock and it's 4:30PM, and your cereal bowl is still next to your keyboard, and you've been wondering about that smell for the last couple of hours...
On those days, set an alarm on your cell phone to remind yourself to shower.
I'm just sayin'...
Don't thank me now. :)
Welcome to the glamorous side of a writer's life! LOL
Cheers!
Congratulations, Stacey! And enjoy! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome! Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Stacey!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure in some ways it was tough to leave your job, but it's wonderful that you'll be able to concentrate full time on your career!
Let the writing fun really begin!
Well, I've said it before, but I'll say it again since it's such an amazing time for you - congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteMan is your desk clean...LOL
Stacey,
ReplyDeleteNot only is your desk clean but so is your office--which is also very nice looking.
Welcome to the world of writer FT and then some. ;-)
Congratulations Stacey. enjoy every moment.
ReplyDeleteOkay, first I'll report a word count of 600 for the day (so far). Not as much as I'd like but I also wrote 4 blog posts and scheduled them. One more of those for today.
ReplyDeleteJude--CONGRATS on your move as well!! I hope it goes great for both of us. :)
Jill--that's one of the best things anyone has ever wished me. Thank you!
Steve, Christine, Natalie, Dana--thanks so much!
Greg--um, when I read your comment at 2pm, my morning cereal bowl sat to my right, dried milk and all. So, yeah, I've already experienced the oh-so-glamorous side of writing, but I don't want to scare my hubby off, so I do shower regularly. Hopefully that doesn't change!
Thanks Sally, Stacy (and yay you, too!) and Donna Michaels! It was a bit scary to make that initial decision, but all I'll miss at the job are the people. And I'll see them again in October for a book sale there that I'm signing at, so even that's not so bad.
Donna Marie--that was this morning. Books, notebooks and scrap papers are already starting to multiply.
Casey--the picture was taken at a strategic angle, plus I dusted just for the occasion. My plan is to try to keep it straight each night. Wish me luck on that.
Seems I'm always late to the party! Sending you a happy dance for your new life as a full time author!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! But don't let the reading of this comment be a distraction! Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteHow completely awesome that you took the plunge (officially)!!!
ReplyDeleteWTG! The universe will definitely support this decision.
Wishing you all the best.
Yay for you! Congrats on taking the plunge; wishing you lots of success in your "new career."
ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATIONS!
ReplyDeleteAnd look at YOU!! No way am I taking a photo of my desk and the walls full of pinboards covered in sticky notes and index cards.
Just think, when winter comes it'll be pj's, socks, uggs and hoodies!
Congratulations!!!!! You look so happy! I know that's how I felt when I quit.
ReplyDeleteYay, congratulations Stacey!!! So happy for you. :)
ReplyDeleteAlicia-usually I'm the late one. Thanks for the beautiful dance! :)
ReplyDeleteForrest-isn't the internet always a distraction? I will have to work on that.
Isis-Thanks. I'm looking forward to that extra time to read your book when it's out. And major congrats to you on motherhood.
Carol-now if I can only write as much as you do while you're still working the day job full-time, too!
Christine-I cleaned special for the pics. :) I love writing in the winter, especially if it's snowing. Tomorrow is supposed to rain-should be a great day for writing my paranormal novella.
Edie-yes, my happiness really showed and it's still there! Talking to you in MKE last summer was part of the reason I started this indie journey...THANK YOU!
Shelia-Thanks for sharing your smile for my news. :)
Alan-so true! Looking forward to Aaron and Co. racking up some wins. :)
